Decorative Riverstone Pestle & Mortar- Small (aprox 9x7cm)

A little piece inspired by a very special memory.

During my travels in Bali, I was lucky enough to spend time cooking with a wonderful couple who welcomed me into their home and shared some of their family traditions with me.

One of the things that stayed with me was the importance of food and the rituals surrounding it. Multigenerational living was simply part of everyday life, and preparing food wasn't something to rush through — it was about family, connection and time spent together.

I watched mortar and pestles being used to grind fresh herbs and fragrant spices by hand, and there was something wonderfully grounding about such a simple, traditional object.

So when I discovered this handmade decorative riverstone pestle and mortar, it immediately took me back to Bali.

This particular piece is designed for decorative use rather than food preparation, but it carries that same beautiful simplicity. Carved from natural riverstone in Indonesia, its organic shape, tactile surface and earthy tones make it a lovely little object for a shelf, kitchen display, console table or quiet corner of your home.

Measuring approximately 9 × 7 cm, it's small and understated, with a smooth interior contrasting beautifully against the more natural outer stone.

Because every piece is handmade from natural riverstone, variations in colour, pattern, shape and texture are part of its character — no two will be exactly alike.

For me, it's more than a decorative object. It's a little reminder of Bali, of slowing down, and of the people and places we encounter that somehow stay with us long after we've returned home.
