Cortisol Blood Test

Cortisol Blood Test

Sometimes we become so used to running on empty that we forget it isn't supposed to feel normal.

Modern life can involve an awful lot of “doing” — juggling responsibilities, looking after other people, keeping everything moving and somehow finding ourselves at the bottom of the list.

Cortisol is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands and plays an important role in the body's response to stress, as well as several other functions within the body.

A Cortisol Blood Test measures the level of cortisol in your blood, giving you information that can help you better understand this particular aspect of your health.

It isn't a test that can tell you how stressed you are, nor can one result explain symptoms such as tiredness, anxiety or disrupted sleep. But when there's a reason to investigate cortisol levels, having that information can be a useful starting point for a conversation with an appropriate healthcare professional.

At Tenacious, I believe understanding our bodies is far more helpful than simply pushing through when something doesn't feel right.

Sometimes the first step isn't changing everything.

It's simply paying attention.

Blood test results should be interpreted in the appropriate clinical context. Cortisol levels naturally vary throughout the day and can be affected by a number of factors, so an individual result should not be used to self-diagnose a medical condition.
